One thing I really enjoy in DOS more than the D&D style things like pathfinder etc is the ability to combo skills and do more than one thing on your turn beyond skill, free buff, move. How you completed the first area so fast, idk what to tell you on that one lol Uhhh, well when the game first launched in EA they said it was about 30 percent of the game, goblin camp and underdark, then they added grymforge and fleshed out some stuff in the first area, I was merely taking a guess at 40 percent, 30 percent then 6 patches, sounds like it could be 40-50 percent of the way done, patch 7 is 32gb and that comes out this month, considering that is about 1/3 the size of the overall game(will be 100gb when that patch drops) my guess would be they are adding a class(on your missing 3 classes, larian said they are adding the more intricate classes first, bard/monk, from that, paladin and whatever else are basically gonna be dropped at the same time because they will be easy to add), possible race, finish up some of the current areas and add a new one probably, considering this, the upcoming patch should push the game to 60-70 percent done. If any of that bothers you, I would wait for the full release. There are also some quality of life things missing still (like being able to add map markers, or sort your inventory conveniently). Because it’s only Act 1, there are lots of unfinishable quests/storylines (lots of “when we get to Baldur’s Gate…”). It’s definitely still a little buggy at times, and save files aren’t compatible with new updates when they put them out. I’ve put in 200ish hours over a few playthroughs and I’m still finding things I missed on previous runs or alternate ways to complete quests (I’m a pretty slow player though, so you might not get as many hours out of it). The graphics are a huge leap forward from DOS2, and the mechanics do a good job of capturing a D&D 5e feel while still being familiar if you’ve played DOS2. Vendor Prices, Bartering & Attitude FormulaĪs someone who enjoyed DOS2 and also plays D&D, I’m loving Baldur’s Gate so far! There’s quite a bit of content for an early access (only Act 1 is out in early access, but it’s a bigger act than in DOS2). Try this thread || Discussion Overview You also can you Divinity Engine to extend GM mode with more level templates, monsters to spawn. I should mention that script language do not require you to be full power programmer, you can master it pretty easy and you also can alter already existing things. This will require you to create your own levels with level editor, writing scripts, setting triggers and etc. There you have full power engine allowing you to create new mods, scenarios and campaign which are can be played in standalone way, i.e. If you aiming for a experience close to Main Campaign of DoS 2 then "Divinity Engine" is your option. To allow players and GM full freedom of choice this mode does not include triggers, script programming and explicit quests like in main campaign. Like in all table top rpgs you need Game Master to run it and players to enjoy it. But this mode won't allow you to create standalone campaigns. (i'm advising to see tutorial video or take a look on tutorial campaign). For this you don't need any programming/art skills - all tools in game will provide you with everything you need to run a campaign and you need just to be a story teller. Its idea is allow you run tabletop like sessions with experience as close to real life as possible. If you aiming for tabletop experience with your friends then Game Master mode is your option. First you need to decided what you exactly want to do.
